My students need fraction tiles and place value boards. This will help students follow along with the math lesson, use hands-on strategies, and help me see who is understanding it and who needs more help.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our elementary is located in San Pedro, California. The students at our school are a great group of students who come to school excited and ready to learn. Our elementary is a Title I school and is located in a high poverty area. At the school, 85% of our students are offered a free hot breakfast, lunch, and after school take-home meals. Our school is like a second home to my students. Just like a lot of students, they face many challenges at home. I want to create a classroom environment that is peaceful, fun, and inviting. A place that students can leave the outside challenges at the front door.
My Project
Students learn in different ways. It is important to not only have students see the lesson but to be able to use hands-on materials to learn. The place value boards will be great for students to work alongside of me as I am teaching. I will be able to see if the students are understanding the material or if they need extra help. where students can use a whiteboard marker and follow along at their seats, while I am teaching will help students. The fraction tiles will be a great addition to the lessons. Fractions can be a challenge, and these are great because students can hold them, compare them, and really get a better understanding of fractions.
