My Students

The concept of time is very difficult for students and they need clocks that will build a better understanding of time. Do you love playing shop? I know my students do and with this cash machine they will have even more fun with money!

The children in my classroom and at my school are all wonderful hardworking kids who love to learn and discover new things, even though they face many challenges.

All of the students come from very diverse homes and backgrounds. Many of my students come from families where they don't speak English at home because they have immigrated from various countries. Many of the families are supportive of their children, but struggle to give them the academic support they need. Over 64% of students receive free and reduced-price lunch.

My Project

In my classroom students need to buy materials for certain projects that are going on in the classroom. For example, students have been creating a pizza shop and they have to pay for the ingredients they want to make their pizza. With a cash register, students can organize their money, when they are organized they will be able to give students their change easier. The clocks are essential for the classroom because these are geared clocks which means as they move the minute hand the hour hand also moves. When using non geared clocks the students have a hard time understanding how the hour hand moves with the minute hand. For example if you ask a student to show you 30 minutes before 4 o'clock, students will show you 4:30. The clocks will help students understand the meaning of time.

These donations will engage students in mathematic lessons along with enhancing their mathematical skills.

They will be able to grasp elapsed time easier when they are able to work with geared clocks. They will also have a lot of fun working with the cash register, along with working on organizational skills.
