Hands-on Math Materials

Help me give my students a tube play set, stopwatches, food scale and other hands-on math materials to make measuring conversions fun!

My Project

The group of students that I work is going to be working on measurement conversions in an upcoming unit. As you can imagine, this material is rather bland and makes it hard for students to get excited and stay focused. I have found a great lesson which engages students in hands-on learning, through weighing objects, measuring distance a car travels, and timing pushups. Then the students will convert this information using our calculations.

I am hoping this lesson will be exciting and fun for the students as we learn using the materials.

Having stop watches, measuring tape, scales, cars, and a ramp tube would be helpful for us to achieve our goal!
