This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school with a high poverty rate. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My classroom is a self-contained setting with grades K-6. All of my students attend lunch and participate in activity classes with their grade-level peers. My paraprofessionals and I work with the students individually on academic and daily living skills.
My students enjoy hands-on learning and active and engaging projects.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
My Project
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them visuals to make more effective learning because they will be able to grasp the math concepts. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given manipulatives to help them solve mathematical problems because they are engaged in the process. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of becoming life-long mathematicians.
The gear clocks I have chosen will be used independently by the students to grasp the concept of time.
The array manipulative will help my students gain a deeper understanding of multiplication.
