This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are definitely used to learning through technology. My students need paper and pens to make manipulatives, math games (electronic), and supplies (paper and markers) to create their own math games. These hands-on activities and games allow them to have fun and learn at the same time.
My students come from many different backgrounds.
Most of them are part of the magnet program. They are either part of the pre-med or pre-engineering program. They are students who enjoy doing hands-on activities. This project will allow them to do math in multiple ways without pencils and paper.
My Project
This project allows the students to play educational games while learning. It also allows them classroom time to interact and not be stuck at a desk to learn. They can interact with other students and teach each other.
It's a fact that students can learn so much more from each other than by just listening to a teacher lecture. Students will use manipulatives they make or electronic math games to reinforce the skills I am teaching. Sometimes a simple game can make the content so much more exciting.
This project is so important because I'm always looking for ways to make math fun.
If students fall in love with math early on in their education, they will always love math and be more successful. This gives them an opportunity to make their own games and manipulatives or play electronic games to reinforce the skills I am teaching.
