it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are inquisitive, creative, and intrinsically motivated. We are a part of an urban, low-income community where resources can be limited, but their enthusiasm for learning is endless. Many have foundational gaps, which makes hands-on, engaging instruction crucial.My students are resilient and love to learn through discovery.
The base ten blocks, clocks and money will deepen understanding of math concepts, connect real world applications, and explore in a tactile, visual way.
At times concepts can feel confusing and abstract, so these tools will allow students the chance to manipulate and visualize concepts. The headphones will provide a quiet space for students to focus on learning videos and personalized instruction. My students will be able to engage meaningfully, truly take ownership of their learning, and find purpose in math concepts. I strive to build a classroom where math is not intimidating, but exciting and an opportunity to build confidence through exploration.
