Hands-on Math Experience for 5th Grade

Help me give my students dice, Fraction Tiles, Decimal Place Value Cards and other manipulatives for a hands-on experience of learning math in their own unique ways.

My Students

Please help me better engage my students in math with hands-on manipulatives. Fifth grade math is full of new and complex material that my students are required to master. I order to meet the needs of all my students, I need to be able to teach them in a variety of ways to meet all their needs. These materials will help me reach part of that goal by allowing my students to get hands-on experience with these complex concepts.

My classroom is full of unique learners who show me each and every day how special and unique they are through their interests, personalities and learning styles.

This means that I need to meet each student's needs and learn how they learn best.

Math is one area where hands-on materials are extremely helpful by helping students to learn complex concepts in concrete ways. Please help me reach all my students and grow their love for math through hands-on experiences.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help my students learn complex math concepts with hands-on experiences. The fraction tiles will allow students to compare and find equivalent fractions. The fractions, decimal and percent circles will allow students to see how each of these areas are connected to each other. The math towers will allow my students to practice mathematical operations in a fun and unique way. All of these materials will be used daily in my room.

Helping my students gain access to these materials will open another way of learning so that I am able to help every student reach their full potential.

These materials will change the way that students look at math and allow them to relate more to math. Please help me make this a reality for my students! Thanks!
