Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us close the educational gap for my eager students! My diverse class lives in a low income neighborhood. Many of my students did not have the opportunity to go to pre-school. With the high standards today for Kindergarten, it is difficult for students who did not attend pre-school to meet these standards. As their teacher I need to fill the gaps that my students come in with, and I need a lot of efficient materials to do so. No time can be wasted in our class! With materials from this project they will develop their literacy skills in order to become successful life long learners and readers.

I am so excited to see their faces when they receive literacy centers from generous donors. My students will be so grateful for all the new learning materials we will have! With my students' enthusiasm and these new materials we can help close the educational gap for my students and for generations of students that will come into my classroom.
My Project
Kindergartners need developmentally appropriate centers to work on math skills. My students need hands-on activities to apply their mathematical skills in an engaging way.
Kindergartners need materials that allow them to manipulate and build.
Shapes are an important concept for students to master. With these manipultives, my students will be able to build shapes and compose shapes with other shapes. Students will master their skills in recognizing and creating shapes.
Kindergartners need to master counting skills as well. With these centers, they will be able to work on counting skills in various mediums. They will sort sets. They will build sets out of play dough on engaging mats. They will join 2 sets to create number with blocks.
With the centers I am requesting, my class will be able to work on their mathematical skills with fun and engaging centers. They will be able to continue to build, create and manipulate in a play like manner, while mastering Kindergarten standards.
