Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a science and technology magnet school. We are a Title I school. Located in a high poverty area. Half our student body is from the surrounding neighborhood. The other half are magnet students. Magnet students come from all areas in our district.

The students in my class are eager enthusiastic learners.

We set high expectations, and they always step up to the challenge. Although they face many challenges outside of school at school, they overcome those challenges and succeed.

My Project

My project includes many manipulatives for students to have a hands-on experience while learning math and science. I have included many counters for students not only to use for counting but also for sorting, and creating addition and subtraction math stories and instant learning centers on addition and subtraction. I have also included two science kits one on motion and a magnification discovery kit, along with some magnifying glasses. The last item is a tabletop writing center, which they will utilize when writing in their math and science journals.

GIving students the opportunity to experience math and science through exploration and kinesthetic learning, rather than lecture, helps them gain a better understanding of the material.
