Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have dreamers, leaders, mathematicians, and friends in our classroom family. I work in a Title I school where our students and teachers have been directly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Despite it all, we are blessed to be able to provide the opportunity for learning and rebuilding in our school. This is the spirit of our school, students, and families. I am blessed to have an amazing chance to continue with the same group.
Amazing leaders, creative writers, and hard working friends are building another year together.
They love to read and the energy for learning is contagious! I have some amazing, bright, and creative second graders! This year, I am fortunate to be able to spend another year with my class. My students are excited about our reading, technology, writing, science, and math centers. I want to give them the tools to be successful second graders!
My Project
It's very important that my kids have fun and engaging math activities when they are learning together in small groups. It gives me a chance to work with my students in a smaller setting. I found some awesome hands-on student-friendly games that my students can learn with. Plus, they are interactive and fun. I love that the games are already done because I want to focus on our mini-lessons and my small group.
Many people do not know that teachers have to make and create their own games for our math centers.
We are asking for a variety of fun and engaging Dot games, hands-on magnetic money and numbers to use for small groups and students' modeling/showing their math thinking, and an allowance game that reinforces our money unit. These items are all hands-on and fun!
Our class is also asking for a Magnetic Modeling chart to be used in our classroom. I try to incorporate hands-on learning, technology, and games that allow for our students to talk, to argue, and to learn from one another. We want them to have some independence and choice in their learning. I also believe that my students should learn positive social skills in the classroom and in life.
We appreciate your generous donation and support in our amazing classroom!!
