This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Teaching and reaching my students during this new normal has had its challenges but my students and their families have been absolutely amazing trying to navigate distance learning and finding materials around their home to help guide instruction.

I want to provide materials that will help families complete learning activities at home without added stress.

I want my students to have easy access to hands on materials and resources and not have to stress over not being able to complete a task due to lack of supplies. I don't want to add any other burden to parents right now to have to provide materials for learning when they can be using their resources to offer food and other necessities for their family.

My Project

During these unprecedent times, my students are finding themselves learning at home without their teacher, their peers and their classroom supplies. As we enter our 8th week of distance learning I am finding that many families are trying to teach their children without all of the necessary supplies at home.

I want to make it easier to learn new skills at home by providing hands on materials for my Pre-K students.

Many of the lessons and activities require students to write or draw to show their work. Oftentimes manipulatives are needed to support specific math lessons. My families have been very creative using things around the house like spoons and cups but I want my students to feel like they are back in school by using familiar resources and materials.
