My Students

My students are excited, curious, eager, and hard working. They come to school every morning motivated to learn. Their favorite part of the day is centers—when they get to make choices about their learning! I love watching them engage, get excited when they master a new skill, and help their classmates. Among the 25 5-year-old students in my classroom are sisters, brothers, friends, explorers, leaders, musicians, scientists, mathematicians, and readers. They get silly, they like to laugh, and they love our classroom!

They are also impoverished, inner-city children growing up on the south side of Chicago.

They love coming to school because our school ensures a safe, fun, and social learning environment in which they thrive; and every project posted on DonorsChoose.org gets them closer to success! I am so fortunate to help give them what they deserve and so thankful for everyone who supports my little learners through DonorsChoose.org.

My Project

We are welcoming students back into the classroom for the first time in a year! It is so exciting for us and our students, but we are in need of many materials! When the school year began, we sent home materials from our classrooms for our students. Now that we are back in person, we do not have the materials we need and would normally use.

Students excel when they are doing; these dry erase boards, crayons, math frames, and Play-Doh will allow them to learn by doing.
