Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The children in my classroom are eager learners. They have very limited English. One way to inspire them to speak more English is through the art of play. With these manipulatives they will play and learn at the same time.
The majority of my students are second language learners.
They are shy and sweet. Our school is a title one school. We have a free lunch program and feed over 700 students two meals a day. Many come from homes where the parents are busy working to pay the bills, and don't have the time to read to their children.
My Project
I am requesting a cash register, soft blocks, and a learn and count puzzle for my students These resources will help the students to understand math concepts, make words, and expand their vocabulary. They will be using these items in a fun way and learning at the same time. With the use of these manipulatives they will build and expand their imagination in creating buildings, and toys in new and exciting ways.
By funding this project you will be helping to build a child's self esteem and giving them a chance to know that they can do things and learn.
They are so proud of whatever little achievement they make such as completing a puzzle on their own. I can only imagine how proud they will be when they use the blocks to build a castle, make a word with the snap together letters, or count and make change with the cash register.
