This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am really enjoying my new role as a math support teacher at my school. I am no longer supporting one class of students, but all students that need additional support in all lower grades at my school! Everyday that I push in and meet with my students, I see the varying needs within the grade level span that I service. In order to support them I have been taking note on additional material that I may need for my students.

Students need hands-on math manipulatives to gain a firm conceptual understanding of number sense in order to become successful in math!

The students I will be working with need a concrete understanding of the number sense in multiplication and division of multidigit numbers. What better way to understand numbers by playing with numbers! Students will be able to visualize numbers for the size that they are. They'll be able to understand that numbers are nested within each other, and you can also take them apart and put together. Help me with a small set of magnetic base ten blocks so that students and I can work on the problem together on the white board while they have their space in front of them to work with their own set of base ten blocks. Students need to see a visual and still touch and manipulate in order to gain confidence!

Please help me with these math manipulatives so that my students can feel confident with numbers!
