Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a small rural farming community, with a small budget. The school is surrounded by farm land and buses in students from all over. We are a district with only one school site, with one teacher per grade level.
English is the second language for the majority of our students, but this does not stand in the way of their thirst for learning.
As the teacher I can set goals for my students and often times they will surpass my expectations, working harder and harder every day to achieve their goals.
My Project
Math and Writing are two very tough subjects in first grade. The more hands on independent experience they have, the more concrete the knowledge and skill becomes.
Hands-on experience is what we all need to improve our skills.
We can listen and learn but actually implementing the strategies that were just taught to us is how we can make mistakes and improve on what we know.
Starting on getting the hands-on experience and then self-reflecting on that learning while they are young, will encourage them to self-reflect in all their learning.
Independence is what I love to foster in all my students.
