Do you remember your first experience with school and learning letter names? My students need hands on manipulative's to help them recognize letters and learn beginning sounds and sight words. It will help them get a head start with learning to read.
This will help my kindergarten students.
They are from low economic backgrounds and some are our classrooms co-enroll with deaf and blind students. I have the sight-impaired students in my class. This will benefit them and my whole class. As an educator it is very important for me to help all the students in my class achieve success. As a teacher I spend my own money to purchase items. Hands on materials are so important to learning and will help me with my literacy program.
My Project
I can use the materials in a center and students can work in small groups with a teacher and classroom aide. They can use manipulative's to learn letter names, beginning sounds, and sight words. They will be able to sort the letters and distinguish the upper letters from lower case. They can practice writing letters on wipe off letter cards. Also, choose items that begin the letter sound we are learning. It is way for the whole class to learn in a small group. They can write sight words that will help them learn to read.
The donation of these materials will be very beneficial to give my kindergarten students the start they need in school.
I have students who have never been to school before and these items will so helpful to them and me as a teacher.
