Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials I’m requesting will help set up strong systems for literacy success in my kindergarten classroom. I already know exactly where everything will go and how it will support my students each day.
The plastic folders with prongs will be used for take-home binders, holding decodable books, sight word practice, and reading logs.
These folders help students stay organized while encouraging family involvement in at-home reading routines.
The 3-ring pencil pouches will go inside student binders to store crayons, scissors, and dry-erase markers—keeping materials accessible for both independent and small group work.
The red Crayola crayons will be used for color-coded phonics and writing activities. We use red to mark vowel sounds in our multisensory word building—an essential routine that supports English learners, students with dyslexia, and general education students by making sound-symbol connections more visual.
The green plastic canvas sheets are tactile tracing boards for letter formation and fine motor work. These hands-on tools add movement and texture, making literacy practice fun and helping it stick. They benefit all learners, including advanced students working on encoding.
The wooden caddies will hold writing and phonics tools at each table, supporting smooth transitions and consistent routines. With these materials, our classroom becomes an organized, engaging space where students can thrive.
Your donation supports a diverse group of learners in a Title I school with tools that build literacy, confidence, and independence—one folder, crayon, and pencil pouch at a time.
