My middle school students come from a rural area in South Dakota. We live in a small close-knit farming and ranching community. We have a very small science department, and many students have had limited science exposure when they come to my classroom.
I have diverse learning needs throughout my classroom, but all of my students are eager, enthusiastic, and innovative despite our low socioeconomic and Title I status.
They enjoy collaborative, hands-on projects, and working together to accomplish a goal.
My Project
Starfish live in saltwater all over the world. They are important to the ecosystem in many ways. In this hands-on project, students will learn about life science through dissection. Students will explore the parts of starfish and eyeballs.
At the end of the dissection, students will document all the parts of a starfish and eyeball.
Students will explore the job fields relating to this activity such as marine biology and veterinary science. This activity will be an engaging and hands-on opportunity the students will not forget.
Thank you for your generous contributions to my classroom! Your support means so much.
