In our district, the life-skills students and elementary English Language Learning students are primarily attending one elementary school so that they can receive more specialized instruction. Often times we have students that are in both programs and consequently struggle because of both cognitive and language barriers.
This year, we have been using more hands-on teaching to help bridge the communication with our students.
These strategies have proven successful for our kindergarten group. Seeing how the students have blossomed and are enjoying learning, we are hoping to have more manipulative activities so that we can reach more students and help all to be successful.
