This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One of the best way to develop vocabulary skills, hence increase comprehension, is by providing a visual or tangible object for the word or concept being taught, it helps with the acquisition of language.

I teach a kindergarten dual-language class where my students are learning how to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish!

My school is located in a poverty stricken densely populated area of Los Angeles. All my students receive free meals. My students are eager to learn and be bilingual and biliterate.

My Project

Your generosity will provide my students with much needed realia, actual objects that will help illustrate and teach vocabulary, like: animals, community workers, multicultural and food. These objects will compliment and enhance our newly state adopted reading program. We will be studying units that deal with animals, community, multicultural food, and dinosaurs. All these materials are vital in facilitating the acquisition and production of language. The actual objects of food and animals will help illustrate and teach vocabulary, it concretizes vocabulary and language and places it in a frame of reference. My students will be able to see and touch sea animals and bugs which will facilitate their learning!

The animals, food, and other objects will be used as hands-on material and support for learning vocabulary in both English and Spanish.

They will enhance my students' learning because they will be seeing, handling, playing with the objects while learning their correct name or concept. The actual objects will help make the abstract concrete while making the whole process fun for my students! Thank you for your consideration.
