My Students

My students are energetic 3 to 5 year olds just beginning the journey of learning in a school environment. About three quarters of my students are receiving services from the special education teacher and/or the Speech and Language Pathologist.

Curious, inventive and extremely active, my students use our entire classroom area to explore, discover and continuously develop new knowledge and skills.

I love to see the classroom come alive through the new connections my students are making with the teachers, peers and the classroom environment.

My Project

These materials will help my students to engage in many hands-on experiences that will help them build social skills, meet sensory needs, and encourage building skills through trial and error. Many of the materials can be used together with peers. Students can collaborate to build structures and work with one another to solve problems of how to best use the materials. Many of the materials were chosen based on sensory needs of my students. Sitting at the table or with the group can be difficult for children whose bodies were made to move! The seating discs and wobble chair will help these students stay with the group while continuously moving and getting sensory input they need to focus. These materials will help students to interact with peers and work with their hands to overcome some of the learning gaps that came from time away from peers and educational materials.
