My Students

Our school serves a great number of students who are English Learners. While struggling with economic and language issues, parents tell their children, "You go to school to learn!" The families are so supportive and appreciative of the education process.

Students in First Grade love reading and learning!

We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are a unique group, and I am constantly implementing new ways to keep them engaged and learning.

My Project

Students are learning virtually at home and do not have access to supplies that are at school. To learn best, students need to be actively engaged in their learning and manipulating objects in their environment. The light and sound unit will be taught soon in science. Our students will need to perform simple experiments to determine what kind of objects light can pass through. In Math, the students are engaging in addition and subtraction activities.

The flashlights and mirrors in this project will ensure that all students in 1st grade will be able to participate in light experiments.

The counting blocks support the "hands-on" learning the many students need to be successful in carrying out math operations. Our goal is to give our first graders receive as close to the same education we could provide them if they were in the school building.
