Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Children in my Title I preschool class are considered the most "at-risk" in our district. This year is crucial to their academic success.
Young children are eager to learn but often become bored at school.
Our aim is to help children remain excited to learn.
We want to provide highly interesting materials and experiences that are naturally motivating. Children naturally inclined science, engineering, math, and literacy. As we support children's natural curiosity and interests we see each child blossom into a learner. Each child develops the capacity to continue to learn. This deep love of learning is at the heart of our class.
My Project
Children will have the opportunity to have materials during all phases of learning -individual, small group, and whole group. No child will be sitting and passively listening. Active learning for all children makes effective use of time.
Developing the crucial skills of alphabet knowledge and counting will help children be prepared for kindergarten.
These materials will give children multiple ways to practice these skills. Children have different levels of knowledge when the come into preschool. Variety of materials enables teachers to reach all children regardless of ability level and background experience. Handling alphabet and number shaped materials strengthens children's familiarity with letters and numbers.
