My Students

I teach 5th graders at a low socioeconomic area. Our school is 100% free lunch; however, with these struggles, I still want my students to feel successful in learning. My students struggle with the self-motivation as well as social-emotional behaviors.

Even with all the obstacles against them, my students continue to work hard and are eager to come to school everyday.

My students enjoy science and doing hands-on activities. I like to motivate them with incentives that they might not have outside of school.

My Project

Every morning my 5th graders come to school eager to see what they're going to learn for the day. By having building materials to manipulate will challenge them to expand their creativity and get them to think about engineering, construction, and building bridges in the future. Although, these students came from very little, they certainly got a lot to give to the world if given the proper tools and guidance. My heart is touched everyday by the knowledge hunger of these thriving students and I fell this project to will motivate them even more to want to learn and explore.
