The students in my classroom are amazing, talented, hard working individuals who have many obstacles in their way, but work hard everyday to overcome them.
Although at times it can be challenging working with students with disabilities, I feel that the students benefit from hands on learning materials.
As a special education teacher, I know that my students need to be exposed to as many different types of learning and learning materials as they can.
Although these students and families are faced with multiple challenges, allowing each student to realize their potential is a vital part of my responsibility as their teacher.
My Project
These materials will help to facilitate hands-on, fun, learning for all students regardless of their disability. All students will be able to use these materials to learn and create various projects that correlate with the learning topic.
The items such as markers, craft tape, scissors, Velcro, and organizing center will be utilized when doing crafts that connect with the holidays, books, or themes we’re focusing on.
Items such as the colors and shapes activity mats, word match game, water blocks, and word sliders will be utilized when working in small centers to focus on specific learning needs.
The tactile materials will help making learning fun and engaging! With these materials we can give experiences through projects and activities that go hand in hand with their individual learning goals.
