Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been working at my school for 6 years. Throughout my time here, I have worked in general education classrooms and ICT classrooms, which incorporate general education students and special education students into one classroom. Most of the students in my school come from low-income families, living in surrounding projects or shelters. Often times, my students come to school unprepared with basic materials to learn.
My goal for these students is to provide them with the necessary materials to help them get the best education they deserve!
With your donations, you will be helping my students receive the best education they can get!
My Project
The materials in this project will support student learning in math, writing, art, and science. The materials and manipulatives can be used during center time. Students will have the freedom to choose and explore with these materials with their classmates or independently.
These manipulatives and materials will make for a more meaningful way for students to obtain and practice various learning objectives.
For example, the magnetic numbers will allow students to practice counting sequence and number sense. The counting bears will help students sort by size, color, and number. For our writing center, students can use different writing tools like the stamps and magnetic letters to practice letter recognition and formulate words. The different newsprint paper allows for differentiation as some students can choose to draw pictures or just write sentences. In our art center, students have multiple coloring materials to choose from like fine line markers and jumbo pencils that help develop fine motor skills. The dinosaur and ocean animal puzzles that will be a part of our science center can help students review vocabulary we have learned during our animal unit.
