Hello!! Working with students with a disability is a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Teaching students through any means possible is what needs to be done and is done on a daily basis. As part of the learning environment, breaks are taken to allow the student to unwind and refocus. Table tasks are given so the student can take a brain break in order to complete their work in 5-10 minutes. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where he or she is! They are truly an incredible and amazing group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of students with the curiosity to learn and the willingness to keep learning. Reaching each student through their specific needs is why I am here and through you and your generosity you will be helping to reach each student!
My Project
These materials will either encourage my students to learn through hands-on learning or create the calm classroom environment that they so desperately need. The Expo markers will be used on their daily boards through whole group instruction. The organizational boxes will allow the students to bring items to their desks and keep them all in one place while using them for their brain breaks. The bean bags allow the students to relax, unwind, refocus and return to their work. The basic supplies will be used for students who are unable to offer supplies but should not have to go without.
