This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students speak sixlanguages and represent six countries! My students are curious, energetic, and they love learning.

My students spend their day learning in both English and Spanish.

We are a low income, dual language community school, where everyone knows each other. They have built such a close community and really help one another grow as friends and learners. They do not always have all of the resources they need at home, but they care so much about learning.

My Project

Every Friday, we do something we call "Friday Fun." This is a favorite part of the week as students get to choose different centers to play at, from blocks, to art to puzzles.

Hands on playing is so important at a young age to learn to solve problems with one another such as taking turns, sharing and meeting a common goal.

These materials will boost our Friday Fun collection and give students new ways to play and interact with their classmates in a hands on matter. Toy cars, animals and blocks leave endless opportunities to create towns and adventures! These social skills and creativity they are building while playing are going to benefit them their whole lives! My students are all learning in two languages. Being able to play with classmates in English and Spanish is so beneficial!
