Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of ambitious group of Transitional Kindergartners, Kindergartners and first graders who have a variety of exceptional needs such as learning disabilities, speech and language challenges, social emotional needs and autism. Some of my students are also English Language Learners while others have sensory needs.

They are all happy active little learners who enjoy hands on learning and need additional support to access the curriculum.

We are a Title 1 school full of school pride and we are all proud to represent our school.

My Project

The materials will give me an opportunity to divide my class into small groups based on their learning styles and abilities.Providing my students with hands on manipulatives will keep them busy as I work with individuals or small groups to re-teach a lesson or reinforced new learned concept while the rest of the class works independently.

The materials will be used to differentiate my learning groups and to provide my students with different options to learn class material.

Students will be more engaged and motivated in learning through the use of manipulatives such as stamps, magnetic letters, play dough and colorful card stock as they expand their learning.

Additionally, I plan on using the weekly readers in our reading rotations. These weekly readers will help my students develop their reading skills while keeping them engaged with non fiction stories. I'm sure their motivation and excitement will continue to increase as they keep gaining more and more knowledge through our class readings from non fiction magazines and the online resources from scholastic subscription.
