Hands-on Learning with Math

Help me give my students LEGO Classic Large Creative Brick Box so that they can use the legos to learn more hands-on math. Legos can be used to teach fraction comprehension, multiplication, place value, and much more.

My Students

I am a first-year teacher. I am still in need of a few materials to help set the stage for my classroom. I believe that the environment the students come to every day should be inviting and encourage learning. This is why I am hoping to get some help so that I can make this a great year for my students. I believe that the students should have all the materials they need to be successful throughout the school year.

This project is to help bring manipulatives to a group of 2nd graders.

Manipulatives are physical objects that are used as teaching tools to engage students in hands-on learning. Bringing manipulatives into learning helps students to be in control of their own learning by being able to choose and how and when they use them.

My Project

Hands-on math makes learning fun as well as relatable to the students. The students will use the whiteboard to be fully engaged in responding to questions as well as help the environment by saving paper.

The legos can be used in a variety of ways to bring math to students hands and make it more relatable.

Students can creative while learning math fluency, place value, addition, fractions, and much more. Most children need the first hand experience to fully understand the material or concept they are taught. You can show a kid a picture of the beach but until the have been to the beach and felt the sand, tasted the salty air, and swam in the choppy water they have no real sense of what the beach is like. Giving students hand-on manipulatives helps to give them an firsthand experience with the math concept.
