I have the pleasure of teaching inquisitive and energetic third graders. While many come from low income families, these students come to school excited to learn in a loving environment. Many do not have opportunities for play after school and lack opportunities to problem solve, collaborate and create together.
In my classroom, we spend a great deal of time on learning how to build relationships and work well with others.
This is a challenge for children who may spend hours alone with the TV or video games. They struggle with group projects, leadership and listening to others ideas. These children need opportunities to create and explore creatively while learning.
The Lego sets will be put to great use in our classroom as students create, explore and problem solve solutions to real world problems. Lego's will allow their imagination to soar as they work together using engineering fundamentals, leadership skills, and cooperative learning on science, math and reading tasks. Creating characters and settings based on books read will bring the story elements to life and provide opportunities for role play.
Using Lego's allows risk free exploration of ideas and engineering and promotes communication among teams.
My students need opportunities to play and explore together, communicate their ideas and listen to others ideas on a project. Please fund these materials and bring new opportunities to my students!
