Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my second year in kindergarten! I love the different dynamics of a kindergarten class. These little learners are so sweet and eager! My students are English Language Learners. Many students in my class have never been in school prior to this year.
I try to make learning fun and memorable as kindergarten sets the tone for their first educational experiences in a school.
We learn through hands-on activities, games, and a lot of movement! My students love to learn in new ways and enjoy being a part of a small group where skills are broken down for them to be able to understand and master the skill.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds, and each has their own unique learning styles. We love to read and write when we're together. Sometimes I, as the teacher, need to think out of the box on how to approach new topics so that my students can understand the teaching point.
My Project
These new station materials will make a difference in my students' learning in kindergarten because they are exciting, hands-on and fun for the students. Learning will always be new and exciting with these learning games. By building these foundational skills, my students become strong in literacy and this will help them be successful in other academic areas. These games allow for students to be the teacher and lead others through the game, taking turns and working together.
Students will be able to practice early alphabetic skills, phonics skills, sight words, comprehension, writing as well as math with the wide variety of these requested games.
When having station time in the classroom, students often get bored of the same thing over and over. With having new "game-like" station materials, my students will be more intrigued and engaged in their learning. One thing as I keep hearing about is student engagement and hands-on learning.
By getting new materials for my kindergarten students, I can make this more possible in my classroom. My students would really enjoy these new materials in our classroom!
