My Project

My class consists of 20 unique and eager to learn kindergarten students in a Title I school district. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected my classroom in many ways. One specific way is that it has limited the hands-on opportunities and experiences that help to foster a love of learning in my students. In previous years, many of my students would have attended a preschool type program, but due to the pandemic, that is not true for the last couple of school years. This grant would provide me with needed materials that would help lessen this gap.

My kindergarteners will be working hard to learn through hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities.

I want to continue to encourage and foster this love of learning amongst my students by implementing activities that they can actively engage in. As early learners, my students need high-quality, engaging materials to interact with and build on their learning. The requested items will provide those hands-on experiences that will lead to more engaging stations, increased retention of learned concepts, and offer my diverse learners a way to be active participants in their educational journey. By funding this grant, my students will also be able to participate in hands-on, developmentally appropriate educational activities using a light table and magnetic board. When children have the opportunity to have the needed resources that are developmentally appropriate, it gives them a feeling of accomplishment and ownership over what they are learning, which in return helps them become lifelong learners.
