With many new students joining our school. We need extra support to help these students feel welcomed. My students are amazing learners! The children that I see every day want to do their best, but they are struggling with certain math, reading, and/or, writing skills.
My students have such a desire to learn and do their very best every single day.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I want to give them the tools to be able to make significant learning gains.
These children need extra resources to help them to be successful with the regular curriculum and to make learning gains to be on grade level and equal with their peers.
My Project
With new students from Puerto Rico joining use mid year we need extra support to help fill in their learning gaps, due to being new in the area. The students that I teach are struggling every day in their classrooms. They are trying to keep up with an extremely fast academic pace, alongside their classmates. However, they learn a little differently and sometimes a little slower. These resources like the Alphabet Smart Pencil and Interactive Cards Reading Cards, will help engage the students and make learning more fun for them. Some of the items on my list are; interactive math and reading games, puzzles that help students count and recognize numbers, matching games that help students rhyme words and will help reinforce skills that they are learning. There are also story sequencing cards, writing tiles, and math activity cards that can help relate what they are learning to real life situations. If I can show them that learning can be fun, they will want to study ALL the time!
My students desperately want to feel successful and proud of themselves!
These students want to learn, and to be on grade level with their peers. Finding a different way for them to learn is important. A more fun, hands on approach to teaching is what I need.
Students that are engaged in learning and participating have a higher chance of retaining the lesson. Some of the resources on my list, like the whiteboards or ten frames magnetic board will help each student stay involved and participate.
