My students need blocks, peg boards, gears, lacing beads and other hands-on toys to increase their early math awareness and improve fine motor skills in the classroom.
Stacia Tauscher stated, "We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today.” That someone may be an inventor, a creator, a scientist, carpenter, or a mathematician.
I work with special needs preschool students from the ages of 3 to 5.
My students range from speech delayed to severe autism and everything in between. I work to create as many opportunities as I can for my students in my classroom, all while meeting each student at their developmental level. Education is fun and exciting, and I get to be the first classroom many of our future scholars will experience. I strive to make it a fun, enticing, creative, and engaging work space for each child.
My Project
These materials will be foundational for our special needs preschool classroom. Our children learn best by doing: getting their little fingers around the item, building and creating, and exploring and crafting.
Bright, colorful, fun, and engaging items like gears, gadgets, and manipulatives keep our students wanting to learn more and plants the foundation of education into our youngest learners.
Having materials that our students can play with increases opportunity for social interaction with peers and also creates an atmosphere that makes learning fun.
Children learn best through play, when they are actively participating and enjoying what they are doing. Having engaging materials at their fingertips continues their love of learning in the classroom.
