My students need measurement tools, individual clocks, and graphing supplies for hands-on learning in our upcoming math units on measurement, time, and graphing.
My classroom is alive and active!!! We sing, dance, work in small groups, visit stations, participate in centers and much more every day! I believe it is important for learning to be fun! I want to get my students excited about learning!
Although my Kindergarten class includes 19 students of various abilities, we all have one thing in common ..... we are excited about learning!
We are part of a small rural elementary school of about 240 students in grades JK-5. Being a small school allows a close relationship between teachers, students, and their families. I actually attended this elementary school as a student!
My Project
The materials such as measurement tools, individual clocks, and graphing supplies, I have requested will be used for math instruction and hands-on learning. Our Kindergarten day ends with centers. Groups of 4 and 5 students go to 4 centers. At the centers they practice skills being taught during Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The time, measurement, and graphing materials requested will be used at the Math Center.
Having these supplies will help my students have hands-on experiences such as determining heavier and lighter items using the balance, reading a scale, moving the hands on the Judy Clocks to tell time to the hour, and creating graphs using the Unifix cubes and magnetic Cuisenaire rods.
Kindergarten students need that hands-on experience to make learning real for them.
