Hands on Learning Fun

Help me give my students an opportunity to explore the world around them and be engaged using multiple senses. The students can feel sand, the coolness of water, and use their imagination as they play.

My Project

Our students love being outside and playing in the grass and dirt and exploring nature with their senses. We want to bring this opportunity indoors by having a sensory table in our room. The students can touch the sand and other items we put in the sensory table and feel the water. They can use problem solving as they realize that different items have different textures and flow in different ways. They can also use their imagination as they create sculptures in the sand and manipulate between the two areas. They can learn about volume and measurement as they fill different containers and see how different items take up different amounts of space. We can incorporate in our different units of studies as well as the four seasons by bringing in material that corresponds with the time of the year allowing them to explore in depth more items found in nature in a designated spot in the classroom. The sand and water table and toys will provide countless possibilities of learning opportunities and fun to all of our students.
