Help me give my students STEM activities like Gears, Gears Gears! Cams and Cranks, and Wheels and Axel's so that these students can experience hands-on learning.
My students are survivors and overcomes. They are striving artists, architects, mechanics, and comedians. They are athletes, scientists and veterinarians. One of my students brings me his completed art daily to admire. Another student has recently become fascinated with “gears” and the inner workings of machinery. He would spend endless amounts of time thinking and figuring out how things work! Though each student must overcome learning obstacles, and economic barriers, they come to school, often their safe place, excited to learn new things!
My Project
I'm building a science center in my classroom and these projects will serve to support student understanding of science concepts through interactive experiences that tap into visual and touch senses for activating memory and learning. I'm planning lessons that tie directly into their curriculum for the areas these STEM activities support.
My students are explorers.
They want to know how the world works. My students need differentiated learning opportunities. Hands-on activities can bring science and technology alive for them. Hands-on technology helps to tie the textbook to the real world. Small games and activities like these provide kinesthetic experiences to encourage connections in science and technology. These STEM activities are perfect for "tying it all together"!
