My Students

My students are about as special as they come, in every way! They are resilient, patient, quirky, happy, and have all the potential in the world. They also have challenges that many people do not have to deal with.

Each one of my students has a disability to a certain degree.

Some have developmental delays in speech or other areas that make it difficult for them to function in a general education class. Others have autism, down's syndrome, or multiple disabilities. Some are verbal while others have not yet learned how to speak and instead use augmentative systems to communicate.

My Project

My students learn best when they can interact with materials and resources. These learning materials and resources will allow them hands on learning experiences to teach and solidify concepts. It will also help them connect principles of the alphabet to real world application as they explore items that start with the letter we are learning about.

These resources would give my students the opportunity to explore and investigate their world which keeps them engaged in learning and helps them gain vital knowledge.

These materials will not only help with literacy skills, but also language skills. As the students interact with these resources they will be exposed to vocabulary and object identification, promoting and encouraging basic language skills which so many of my students struggle with.
