My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and all have different amazing abilities. The students I work with have special needs. We use a variety of methods to work and learn in ways that will best meet the needs of each student.

With the wide variety of abilities and needs in my class have including academic, behavioral, emotional, and sensory seeking there are unique challenges and needs that can be difficult to meet without additional creativity and support.

My students love to use hands-on and engaging materials to further their learning and help them make the learning progress we are striving for. Some of the most motivating things for my students would be technology and things they can interact with. This is how they learn best and how I can make connections that create a deeper understanding and level of attainment.

My Project

My students do extremely well when given the opportunity to use materials and manipulatives as ways to build better connections to the activities we are learning. These iPad games allow my students to practice skills in a hands-on interactive way that they enjoy and can do on their own during centers for student-driven learning.

The stylus will assist with students that are working on fine motor skills using an iPad as their main form of assistive technology to demonstrate their knowledge.

For students who are unable to write due to fine motor deficits it is so valuable to give them alternative ways to practice those skills and build better muscle tone.

This year I also work with students with visual impairments who would benefit from tactile board books to teach prerequisite skills for learning to read and do fine motor tasks with their fingers and hands.
