Help me give my students a place to explore in our new science center!

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty neighborhood, I understand the struggles my Pre-K students go through. I strive to make our classroom a safe and nurturing environment in which they can learn and grow. Being an IB school, one of our essential agreements is that we come ready to learn every day.
Despite everything going on in their home lives, they somehow pull it all together and come to school with questions on their minds and curiosity in their hearts.
They refer to their personalized learning plans and visit learning centers that will help them with their individual learning needs. They stay on task and are persistent. They become excited when they have their "A ha!" moments and are filled with pride when showing off their work in our showcase at the end of each unit. I have learned so much about patience, persistence, and tolerance from them; for this, I am forever indebted!
Preschoolers are always exploring the world around them. These new natural science specimens and books will help bring them closer the world around them. We have been studying trees, and when we do this study we often note that leaves are not readily available to us. (Our neighborhood is not safe to walk to collect them) The insects and bugs students are interested in are also hard to find. The specimens, along with books that talk about them, can help bring our tree and insect studies alive! The comfy couch will allow students a cozy spot to look through the science books. Please consider funding us, so we can explore our new science center!
