This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My curious, creative, and collaborative second graders are diving into our science unit on Living Things and Their Habitats! As part of our bilingual (Spanish-English) classroom, students are learning about the unique characteristics of habitats around the world—from lush rainforests to dry deserts and icy polar regions. To bring their learning to life, they will each choose a habitat to research and represent through a hands-on diorama.

To support this culminating project, we need supplies like diorama boxes, miniature animals, colored paper, natural materials like sand and rocks, glue, and markers.

These tools will help students build realistic and detailed models that show how animals and plants survive and thrive in their environments. Students will present their projects using academic language and sharing the information they have researched.
