Who are these books for? My first graders are excited learners and eager to practice their new reading skills. They look forward to leaning information and sharing fun stories. They are also bilingual learners! I teach first grade in a Bilingual Two Way Immersion school. Native Spanish speakers and native English Speakers together learn academic content in Spanish. They are immersed in it for most of the day. We also teach English to all students at a specified time of the day. As students progress through the grade levels the amount of English increases with the goal of all students becoming bilingual, bi-literate and having an appreciation for other cultures.
