My Students

My students are unique and special because they are such shining stars in a world that can seem dark at times. They come from a smaller town where socioeconomic status can vary widely. Despite their differences my students come to school everyday excited to learn and take on new challenges. I also love that my students are always willing to lend a helping hand or a positive word of encouragement to those in need. They have a great sense of community!

The pandemic has impacted all of my students greatly.

Their learning has suffered the past two years in part because of the interruption in learning and the lack of ability to do more hands-on classroom learning. They struggled with retaining skills and having meaningful comprehension because of so much interruption to the classroom environment. My goal is to be able to use this grant to help create those meaningful learning opportunities with quality hands-on tools.

My Project

These resources will be used to help facilitate hands-on learning in my classroom and my fellow teachers' rooms as well. As a smaller school district we do not have math kits that give us all the tools we need for quality learning. These essential resources will make a huge impact on our students.

Geometry and measurement is a unit of learning that desperately needs hands-on tools.

These tools will help my students to make connections and fully comprehend the material we cover. My students would love to be able to learn about surface area and two/ three dimensional figures with the physical tools in front of them. I know these materials will make a big difference in my students' learning.
