Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Math is always fun when we have students engage in hands-on activities, especially when playdough is involved! I like to motivate and encourage my students to participate in hands-on activities and engage in collaborative learning so they can grasp and be successful with new math skills.

I am looking forward to having my students engage in this experiential lesson on fractions, using these life-like manipulatives to visually represent and compare fractions.

The playdough and rolling pins I am requesting will be used to make pizzas and physically divide shapes into equal parts. This will allow my students to understand the concept of fractions visually and tactilely. The Yummy Magnetic Fractions set includes task cards that my students will use in centers and collaborate with a partner. My students will have an amazing time learning about fractions using these amazing resources.
