Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day is a new world in kindergarten. The children, all from a variety of different backgrounds and various parts of our city, come to school so eager to learn and they work very hard each day, which has translated into great success for the students and the whole school.
Our school school is unique, because it is a Spanish Immersion school.
Not only are the students learning basic kindergarten skills, they are learning them in Spanish. We are a Title 1 school, where free breakfast and lunch is available to all students in our building every day.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting with math fluency. Using math manipulatives help the students represent and teach them to visualize various parts of math including counting, sorting, measuring, adding, subtracting and so much more! Learning how to represent and visualize math concepts translates into number sense and number fluency which students need in order to be successful for continued growth and deeper knowledge in mathematics.
Students, especially the younger ones, must be able to "see" the mathematics in order to completely understand what they are doing.
Using a variety of math manipulatives allows students to "see" what is occurring and helps them build math fluency
I am also requesting letter builders to help my students learn how to form letters correctly.
We also need a rug to sit on to practice our reading in the classroom library.
