There are so many things that make my students so special. We are from a small town and it feels like we are all family. I went to school with many of my students parents. It's funny how I can pick some of them out based on looks alone! My students love to read, and I LOVE to teach reading. I am a 3rd generation teacher so it runs through my blood. We are a Title I school, which means more than 80% of the students here are from low-income families and receive extra support from the school. As a teacher, there are many times when school supplies, craft materials, daily snacks, or pizza parties come out of my own pocket. These children are amazing students and deserve the best education possible!
My Project
Math learning centers are used to teach important concepts in math. Math centers help make learning fun and independent!
Effective centers offer purposeful hands-on active learning and engage children in thinking and problem solving that allows for decision-making and choice.
They also are open-ended and responsive to different levels of learners which allows children to work independently, collaboratively and successfully!
Math centers are usually set up for children to work individually or in small groups of two to four children. Sometimes an adult is present to guide children, while at other times, students complete the work independently. Typically, the center has a variety of activities to choose from, giving the student the ultimate choice of what to work on. Learning centers are ideal in the classroom because students at different levels can complete activities based on personal abilities and preferences.
