My Project
Hello, I teach special education students in a credit recovery school. Our school is dedicated to educating our students to be the best they can be. My students require a more hands-on approach to learning than some of their peers. As high school students, they are challenged to keep up with their peers and the rigors of their classes. The students need all the tools for learning that we can offer.
In my study skills class, my students have the opportunity to learn by doing, in a safe and friendly environment.
They can take chances and ask questions they would never ask in their regular classes.
Even though my students receive extra help in this environment, they are still aiming at graduation which will be difficult, but manageable when they have the right tools which they feel comfortable using.They really need to be all-in for their success, and these manipulatives will give them real experiences that pencil and paper exercises lack for their learning needs and styles.
While the students I teach can do the work, they have had a much different experience in other schools where many have become invisible to the teaching staff. This school is not like that; we strive for our students' success, but time is running out for them to acquire the tools they need academically and personally to be successful in their lives.
