This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our special education classroom is seeking support to enhance our financial literacy curriculum with engaging, hands-on tools. Understanding money and budgeting is a vital life skill, and these materials will help our students build essential financial skills in an interactive and accessible way.

For our special education students, learning about financial literacy can be particularly challenging but is incredibly important.

We need your help to purchase cash registers, play money, and the game payday. The Cash Registers will assist students in practicing counting, making change, and understanding transactions in a supportive and practical setting. Allowing students to engage in role-playing scenarios that teach them about handling money, reinforcing math skills, and understanding financial concepts in a way that aligns with their individual learning styles. The Play Money will help students grasp the concepts of currency, budgeting, and saving through visual and kinesthetic activities tailored to their learning needs. It will be used for hands-on activities that accommodate various learning needs, helping students to visualize and practice financial transactions, budgeting, and the value of different denominations. The Game Payday will provide an engaging way for students to learn about earning, spending, and saving in a structured and enjoyable format.

These materials will provide the support they need to grasp these essential concepts in a way that is engaging and accessible. By integrating these tools into our lessons, we aim to create a learning environment where every student can build confidence and competence in managing money.
