Hands-On! Exploring Language Arts and Math!

My students need to be able to explore math and language arts independently through centers and materials like the Books on Wheels Mobile Library, charts, magnetic board and display shelves!

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Parcels's classroom raised $576

This project is fully funded

My Students

My school has been serving K-6 students, both military dependents and local residents, since 1956 as part of the Hawaii State Department of Education. My classroom integrates a remarkably diverse population that includes Filipinos, Caucasians, African-Americans, Samoans, and Asian-Americans.

I am an elementary school special education teacher, teaching students where small groups, close proximity, and acceptance is very important.

My students range in abilities and grade-levels, which makes my classroom a fun and unique environment to be a part of.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning and improve their lives at school.

These carefully selected items were chosen through personal experience for the upcoming school year.

I am excited to take what we already have any are already doing and explore more ways to have students interact with both math and language arts activities.

I will be teaching the same students next year so I know exactly what they need to enhance skills they are either; making progress with, or just starting to learn.

Items Use:

1. Mobile books on wheels- To help organize the leveled readers for quick and easy access to read books at their level and take Accelerated Reader tests (AR) anytime.

2. Magnetic displays- To feature books being used in the weekly skills concepts.

3. Fractions/decimals building boards to explore in centers independently.

4. Privacy partition- to help students work independently and not be bothered.

5. Developing writing teaching charts- to allow concepts taught in my Reading Wonders program to be used in independent practice through centers.

6. Informational text teaching charts- to also be used to allow concepts taught in the Reading/Writing Wonders program to be used in independent practice through centers.

7. Literature magnetic teaching charts- to use when modeling concepts from the Reading Wonders program.
